How does Fractional Ablative Skin Resurfacing Work?
Our Palomar Lux2940™ fractional ablative laser handpiece directs thermal energy into
the skin via hundreds of tiny microbeams. Unsightly skin is selectively vaporized,
and within a few days is replaced with fresh, healthy skin—generated by the body's
lymphatic system.

Are These Treatments Painful? What Should I expect After Treatment?
You may expect redness, warmth, swelling, or tightness in the treated area, with a range
in downtime of 2-4 days. During this period, your skin is healing and regenerating. You
are advised to stay out of the sun, avoid scrubbing, and not wear makeup after treatment.
For several weeks after treatment, depending on the type of treatment and areas treated,
your skin may appear pinkish in tone, which is normal. Makeup can be applied typically
after 4 days, reducing this temporary tone irregularity. Unlike other skin rejuvenation
treatments, our Lux2940™ fractional ablative skin resurfacing treatment is a single day procedure.
Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing is a treatment that uses a laser to deliver light
as an array of microbeams which create columns of coagulated tissue within the skin. Creation
of the columns starts a natural healing process that forms new, healthy tissue. This results
in more youthful-looking skin.

What areas can I have treated?
Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing can be applied to any area of the body, including

Are these treatments safe? Are the painful?
By delivering pulses of light as individual microbeams Fractional Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing
avoids potentially dangerous bulk heating. This results in only minor discomfort being felt
during treatment.
What should I expect after treatment?
- Some redness, warmth, swelling, or tightness in the treated area, which usually fades within
a few hours of treatment
- Quick healing process. Generally, you ca receive a treatment and go back to work or to other
activtities with very little recovery time; often people notice postitive changes with a few days.
- A series of treatments at 1-4 week intervals may be required to achive the desired results
Pulses of filtered light are directed onto the skin and absorbed by the hair follicles. Pulsed light
systems are similar to lasers, but with a larger, smooth beam, and a long pulse for safe, fast, and
comfortable treatments.

Will the Treatments Hurt?
Palomar Pulsed Light Systems use a unique long pulsewidth that delivers energy to the skin over a
relatively long period of time. This makes the pulses safer and more comfortable. You may
experience a feeling similar to that of a rubber band being snapped on the skin, but most people
do not report this sensation as painful.

Are There Any Adverse Reactions to Treatment
You may experience temporary redness and a mild “sunburn”- like effect that may last a few hours to a few days.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
The number of treatments varies depending on the person, the body part being treated, and how
much of the hair is in the active phase of growth. Your treatment provider will be able to give
you a better assessment after consultation.

Is this different from traditional liposuction?
Yes, very different. Traditional liposuction leaves larger scars, causes more bleeding and more post-treatment pain, and requires longer healing times than the SLIM ProcedureSM. Also, traditional liposuction physically breaks up and suctions out intact fat cells, while the SLIM ProcedureSM efficiently melts and liquefies fat, which is then gently removed from your body. Answered simply: SlimLipo™ is easier on your body.
How long is the SLIM ProcedureSM recovery time, and what should I expect?
Typically, the SLIM ProcedureSM recovery time is shorter than traditional liposuction. Many patients can go to work the very next day. You may see slight bruising at the small incision sites, which may take serveral weeks to completely resolve. Compression garments may be required for a short period of time. Ask your physician about post-procedure instructions and what you should expect during your recovery period.
